Planning proposals would see Oxford City grow by 50%

Most of the development is in response to the City's supposed 'unmet housing need' which it claims to be unable to fulfil within it's boundaries. Cherwell, along with other neighbouring District Council's is proposing to place the city's excess in the Green Belt. This map* shows the extent of total Green Belt loss. CDWA was formed to campaign against Cherwell's plans to put a total of 4,400 new homes in the area highlighted to the north of the city.
